Going to the dogs

1 comment:

  1. Hi Honey,
Thanks for sending me your blog. I am so sorry you lost Zoe. She has been with you for as long as we have been emailing. She has been a part of your email name. Max looks like a great dog. So glad you have another faithful companion.

We have quite a menagerie at this time. Of course, we have Shadow. He has been with uf since 2001. We got him just before we visited you on the historic day just before 9/11. Pam and Liz has a cat that Pam rescued from abusive owners some years back. Her name is Eris. Joanne has an albino corn snake that lives in a terrarium in hers and Robyn's room. A few months back Joanne wanted chickens, so she bought two chicks and named them Jacqueline and Jillian. Calling them, of course, Jack and Jill. Jackie died at a few weeks of age. Just keeled over in the yard for no apparent reason. But Jill has grown up into an egg-laying hen. She lays green eggs. When Joanne bought them, they said they were Americanas. I believe they are an Auracana cross as they lay colored eggs. We call her our $50 hen because when Joanne bought the chicks, she bought a thermometer, a heat lamp, bedding, feed, etc. which cost her $50. Since Jill is the sole survivor, she is the "$50 chicken" hee hee Last week a neighbor from down the street brought a chicken to our door and asked if we had lost a chicken. Uncle Joe answered the door and since he can't tell one chicken from another, accepted her as Jill, thinking that she had flown over the fence and we discussed clipping her wings. He put the chicken in the coop for the night. The next day I went out and fed Jill who was waiting for me at the patio door. I went and watered my plants and I heard this chicken clucking in the pen. I was surprised to see this new chicken. She is the same breed, has the same basic appearance with the exception that she has a lot more black in her feathers. So now we have two chickens. Of course, Joanne gave her the name Jackie. The new chicken is a little flighty, but Jill is totally tame and not one bit intimidated by Shadow. When it comes to a nose-to-nose stare down, it is Shadow that backs off. hee hee
I have a MySpace blog. I will invite you. Thank you so much for sharing your life. You write beautifully. You should send this to your local Letters to the Editor.
Love and hugs to you and your family.
